Children and Screens’ National Scientific Advisory Board member Desmond Patton, PhD, MSW, was named as a 2024 honoree by the Mozilla Foundation, and was recognized as a “Change Agent” at the Mozilla Foundation’s second annual Rise25 Awards on August 13, 2024 in Dublin, Ireland.
Dr. Patton was one of five honorees identified as contributing to diversifying and promoting inclusivity in AI. Dr. Patton is known for his research into the relationship between social media and gang violence – specifically how communities constructed online can influence often harmful behavior offline.
