Lancet Psychiatry has announced the formation of the “Commission on global action on problematic use of the internet.” Based on the premise that “Digital technologies and societal problems are increasingly interconnected and that this nexus has important implications for mental health globally,” the commission will convene a multidisciplinary group of experts to provide evidence-based guidance for improving health practices and advance global health policy. Their guidance will address harms through public health, regulation and preventive or therapeutic interventions.
Children and Screens’ National Scientific Advisory Board Marc Potenza, MD, PhD, brings his expertise to the Commission.
